Change Starts in Your Backyard
Our Mission
To address systemic barriers to good health in communities with limited resources, to improve the health, educational attainment, and opportunities for youth, adults and families in Whitakers, and surrounding areas in North Carolina.

Our Story
Hill Family Farm Education Center is the 20+ acre passion project of husband and wife team, Eunice and Silvester Hill. They founded their farm in 2008 in Whitakers, NC, a town where more than 33% of the population lives in poverty and youth experience extremely poor health outcomes and obesity, and began providing nutritious local food to anyone who needed help.
By 2015, Hill Family Farm had grown to serve as a crucial community resource, creating programs that help acknowledge and address the assets and challenges of their community. That means improving access to fresh fruits and vegetables; educating and inspiring people of all ages and abilities; and planting seeds today that will blossom into opportunities tomorrow.
