Everyone Deserves a Home-Cooked Meal

Thanks to grant money from the COVID-19 Rural Emergency Program, we were able to launch the Seniors & Disabled Meals program in 2020. When the pandemic began, we saw a need in our community to help folks who were especially at risk to the coronavirus and mostly confined to their homes. We were able to provide 100+ seniors and disabled residents of Edgecombe and Halifax County with hot, home-cooked meals 2 – 3 times a week. By the end of 2020, we had provided over 3,500 meals and distributed over 300 boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Food insecurity is an ongoing issue in the lives of seniors and persons with disabilities in our communities. In 2021, we answered the call again. Thanks to the support of Resourceful Communities and the North Carolina Community Foundation, we were able to expand our meal program to four counties: Halifax, Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson.
Unfortunately we have run out of funding to continue this program in 2022 or beyond. Would you like to help us provide meals to seniors and disabled adults in our community? Please get in touch.
